Good evening Parents/Guardians of the LTJH Community:

Here is a look at the week ahead!

Happy Retirement!

 After 30 incredible years of shaping young minds and 28 years at LT, Paige Nelson is officially retiring! Throughout her distinguished career, Paige has been a beacon of knowledge, inspiration, and kindness to countless students. Her dedication to teaching and her passion for making a difference will never be forgotten. Whether it was in the classroom, during extra-curricular activities, or simply offering a listening ear, Paige's impact has been immeasurable.

As Paige begins this exciting new chapter, we celebrate the countless lives she's touched and the legacy she leaves behind. May your retirement be filled with joy, adventure, and all the happiness you so richly deserve. Enjoy every moment—you’ve certainly earned it! Congratulations, Paige!

Lockdown Drills

 On Tuesday February 11th we’ll hold our second Lockdown drill of the year. As a reminder, a Lockdown is used when there is an immediate threat to a school.

During a Lockdown, no one enters or exits the building, and everyone stays in a secure location away from doors and windows. Our staff will explain the drill to students beforehand and remind them afterwards that it was just practice. When possible, our police partners join us for Lockdown drills.

 You can learn more about our safety procedures in HRCE schools here. Please reach out if you have any questions or concerns.

French Immersion Information Session

 Leslie Thomas will be hosting a French Immersion Information Session on Wednesday February 5th at 6pm in the Library for parents/guardians of students in grade 6 English classes who are looking to enroll in our Late French Immersion classes starting in Grade 7.  Forms will be sent home this week.  A copy of the form is attached in case it gets misplaced.  These are due by March 3rd.

 February is Registration Month
Do you have a child who will be starting pre-primary or primary this fall? It’s time to register!

Registration for the 2025-26 school year begins on February 3. To ensure we have the right staff and supports in place for September, it’s important that we gather enrolment numbers now.

Tip: Before you begin, make sure you have the following documents in electronic form (image, PDF or Word document):

  • Proof of identity/age with one of the following: birth certificate, passport, immigration papers, or legal adoption papers) if you are new to the HRCE;
  • Proof of home address (a recently dated official government or utility document with your current address that includes your name and date, such as water bill, power bill, internet bill, home fuel bill, a tax receipt, property assessment or a mortgage contract); and
  • Nova Scotia Health Card or Canadian Province Health Card or, for non-citizens while in Canada, proof of Medical Insurance Information.

  Visit the HRCE website for more information and to enrol your child today through PowerSchool Enrollment!

 Don’t have a child to register? Maybe you know someone who does! Please help us spread the word and pass this information on to friends, neighbours or relatives who will be looking to register for the fall.
