LT Parent Information

Good evening Parents/Guardians of the LTJH Community:
Welcome back, and Happy New Year! We hope you had a great break!

Here is a look at the week ahead!

 Arrival Times

A reminder that staff arrives on site for duty at 8:50am.  On occasion, when the weather isn’t cooperating, we will allow students indoors, but only after 8:50am.  We understand that students may be arriving earlier, however staff supervision during these instances will start at 8:50am.

 Beverages in classrooms

All beverages permitted in classrooms must be in a spill proof cup/water bottle. We are asking students NOT to have open cans of pop, energy drinks, iced caps, etc in classrooms.  Teachers can ask students to dispose of these items upon entering classrooms.  If you could discuss this with your student, we would greatly appreciate it.

 Important Weather Reminders

As the weather gets cooler, we want to remind everyone to dress appropriately.  Students at Leslie Thomas go outside for lunch and our grade 6s go out for recess as well.  Making sure that students dress appropriately for these times will make our outside time more enjoyable.

Did you know? HRCE takes great care when making the decision to alter the regular operations of schools and school busses in the event of severe or inclement weather.
It is HRCE’s goal to communicate any changes to the regular operations of schools and/or buses as close to 6:00 a.m. as possible. A 6:00 a.m. announcement could be:

  • All schools are delayed in opening by two hours and bus pickups are delayed by two hours; or
  • All schools are open, but some or all busses are not operating for the day; or
  • Some schools (either individually or by family) are closed for the day; or
  • All schools are closed for the day.

If weather deteriorates, or is forecasted to worsen throughout the morning, an 11:00 a.m. announcement could be:

  • Bused students will be picked up two hours earlier than their regular dismissal time; and
  • Non-bused students will be dismissed at their regularly scheduled lunch hour.

 How will I find out?

  • By email to the addresses in PowerSchool
  • By text message, if you have opted-in. If you aren’t sure if you have opted-in, text Y to the following number: 978338
  • On our website
  • On X (formerly Twitter)
  • On Instagram

It’s important to always have a plan in place for childcare in the event of any cancellation.
