Good evening Parents/Guardians of the LTJH Community:
Here is a look at the week ahead!
Hallowe’en
Students and staff are encouraged to dress up for Hallowe’en! Please avoid full masks and weapons of any kind.
Spirit Week
Monday – Treat Day: Staff will have a treat to give out to students
Tuesday - Orange and Black Day: Wear orange and black
Wednesday – Pumpkin Carving Contest Vote: We will have pumpkins set up for students to vote on
Thursday – Costume Parade: Students who dress up will walk through the gym at noon and prizes will be given out for best costume!
Friday - PJ Day
Bus Conduct
If your student takes the school bus, please ensure they are taking their assigned bus. Taking the wrong bus can lead to bus privileges being revoked. Bus drivers have asked that students should be seated at all times and shouldn’t stand until the bus comes to a full stop to ensure everyone’s safety.
Power School Parent Portal
The Power School parent portal is a great way for parents to stay informed of their child’s attendance and assessed work in each subject. Please note – you must use a web browser to access the PowerSchool parent portal (not necessarily a desktop – you can use a phone but use Safari/Chrome or another browser). The Power School mobile app does not support viewing outcome-based assessment.
Please see below a short video which walks you through navigating the parent portal. It is very important to note that we assess based on outcomes … you will not see an overall grade (as you will see in high school). You will see each outcome assessed individually, per assignment when selected (using a 1-4 rubric).

Homework Hub for Mathematics
Does your child ever ask you how to do a math problem that leaves you stumped? The Homework Hub is now open for mathematics tutoring. Tutoring is available at the following times:
- Grades 4-6: Monday-Wednesday 5:30-6:30 pm
- Grades 7-12: Sunday-Thursday 5:30-9:30 pm
The Homework Hub also provides access to electronic textbooks, instructional videos, vocabulary review, and practice questions.
Students log in to their gnspes accounts and click the icon for Nova Scotia Homework Hub.
I have four children at home and we’ve used it a few times! There are live tutors available to help with any type of math question! It’s amazing!
