The holiday season can be a difficult time for some families in our community. Each year, Leslie Thomas Junior High provides support to school families who are facing financial challenges during the holidays.

Remembrance Day
As we approach Remembrance Day, we would like to extend a special invitation to family members of our students who have served or continue to serve in uniform. We invite them to join us and to wear their uniform to the Ceremony. Students who can participate are Sea, Army or Air Cadets who may also arrive in school in uniform that day.
Our Remembrance Day Ceremony will be held on Monday, November 10th starting at approximately 11am. We would like to honour you by escorting you into the ceremony. Please arrive at approximately 10:30 and check in at the office.
We look forward to honoring the service and sacrifice of our military families and the bravery of those who have given so much for our country.
🍎 Nova Scotia School Lunch Program
We encourage all families to place their child’s lunch orders through the Nova Scotia School Lunch Program. This ensures we have enough meals for everyone who would like a hot lunch each day.
The program is pay-what-you-can, which means families can choose the amount that works best for them — including choosing not to pay at all. Ordering helps us plan properly so that extra lunches are available only for true emergencies (for example, when a student forgets or drops their lunch).
Here’s how to participate:
- Two healthy options are available daily.
- Ordering opens every Friday morning and closes Wednesday at noon.
- Orders can be placed through www.NSLunch.ca using your My NS Account or your child’s GNSPES login.
- Need help? Contact the My NS Account Helpdesk at 1-844-322-9375.

Homework Hub (Mathematics) Update:
The Homework Hub is open for mathematics tutoring for grade 7-12 and Monday, September 15th for grades 4-6. Tutoring is available during the following times:
o Grades 4-6: Monday-Wednesday 5:30-7:30 pm
o Grades 7-12: Sunday-Thursday 5:30-9:30 pm

November 21st – Assessment and Evaluation Day (no school)
November 28th – Report Cards go home
December 4th – Parent Teacher Conferences (1-3pm – phone calls only) and (5-7pm in person) – more to come..
