Holiday Hamper Food Donations
We are having a food collection competition at LTJH. The purpose of this collection is to fill holiday hampers for our community members and families who are in need over the holidays. Students are asked to bring non perishable food items to their homeroom teacher between December 1, 2025 and December 12, 2025. The class with the most food wins a class prize.
To make this collection as impactful as possible, here is a list of suggested items:
• Canned veggies
• Cranberry sauce
• Stuffing
• Cookies
• Chocolates
• Candy canes
• Festive napkins
• Hot cocoa or chocolate
• Holiday candy
• Gravy
• Crackers
• Jam
All other items will be accepted and counted toward the homeroom totals.
During the second week of collections, we will also be accepting:
• Potatoes
• Carrots
These perishables will be collected from December 8, 2025 to December 12, 2025.
As a school, we are hoping to give back to families in need and will be purchasing additional items such as turkeys and hams to complete each hamper. If you have any connections that may help the school acquire items at a reduced cost, please contact Mr Miller at gmiller@hrce.ca or April Parker (Schools Plus) at April.Parker@hrce.ca.
**If you are a family in need, please reach out to the school admin team at ltjh@hrce.ca.

Game Day Early Dismissal Procedure for All LT Sports Teams
To help keep game days running smoothly, LTJH will now use a standard early dismissal time for all sports teams on away game days.
How it works:
• Team members are dismissed at 2:45 pm on any away game day
• Parents do not need to contact the school for early dismissal
• If a student is travelling with another team parent, they must bring a handwritten note to the office in the morning
• Please confirm transportation plans with your child before school when schedules are known
• We understand that playoff schedules or late announcements may require same day planning, and that is completely fine
• These early dismissals are excused and recorded as School Activity ACT
This procedure applies to all LTJH sports teams including volleyball, soccer, basketball, and cross country.
Help Support LT Families This Holiday Season
The holiday season can be a difficult time for some families in our community. Each year, Leslie Thomas Junior High provides support to school families who are experiencing financial challenges.
If you would like to contribute, donations may be made through SchoolCash Online under "Holiday Family Support Donations". Funds will be used to provide grocery cards, essentials, and small gifts to LT families in need.
Your generosity helps make the season a little brighter for those who could use extra support.
Halifax Transit Survey
Halifax Transit is inviting students and parents or guardians to share feedback on the Student Transit Pass Program through a short survey on EngageHalifax. The survey will remain open until December 15, 2025.
